4 reasons Maidenhead is such a great place for businesses

Maidenhead might not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of successful business locations, but this busy Berkshire town has a thriving business community.

The likes of Adobe, ‘3’, Volvo, GSK and Maersk are already based here and it’s only a matter of time before other companies follow suit once Crossrail comes into effect at the end of next year. As well as boasting fantastic transport links, below are more great reasons why Maidenhead is such a fantastic place for businesses.

It’s undergoing a major regeneration

Back in 2007, The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead ( set up the Partnership for the Regeneration of Maidenhead (PRoM). The 20-year vision and Area Action Plan (AAP) has been described as “the most exciting regeneration of Maidenhead in its history.”

An estimated £1 billion will be invested in the town centre which will see a three-phase scheme of shops, homes and offices being built as well as more attractive landscaping and food and beverage offerings. Speaking about the ongoing work, regeneration principal, Cllr Philip Love commented:

“Partnership working and determination to achieve the town’s potential has been intrinsic to the town’s regeneration. There’s a distinct upswing in the town centre with retail, residential and office development taking place and planned. Cranes and scaffolding tell the ongoing success story.”

Crossrail is set to arrive in Maidenhead in December 2019 and is no doubt going to be a fantastic opportunity for the town. Speaking about the benefits that the new train line can offer companies, managing partner of Coleman Solicitors, Michael Stone commented:

“You don’t have to work or live in London to service London-based businesses, but it is important to be able to get there quickly if needs be. Crossrail will improve that connectivity and lower overheads in Maidenhead will enable businesses servicing London and other counties to do so at more competitive rates.”

Maidenhead is already seeing a surge in popularity since Crossrail plans were announced. Over the last 12 months, businesses have been relocating to Maidenhead from London and residential values have also increased with investors and owner-occupiers showing an interest in the town.

Great transport links

Aside from Crossrail offering quick and direct access into central London, Maidenhead already has some fantastic transport links.

The train station provides a fast service to Paddington and Reading as well as access to other nearby towns including Marlow, Slough, Southall, Ealing Broadway and more.

By car, Maidenhead is also situated within easy access of the M4 and A4 which makes it easy to travel to the Thames Valley, Surrey and Hampshire. There are also direct bus services to Slough and Heathrow Airport.

It’s more than just a workplace

While Maidenhead offers a lot of benefits to local businesses, it’s also a great place to live. Not only is this appealing to residents, it’s also great for organisations looking to recruit local talent.

Maidenhead is home to a number of excellent schools including Newlands Girls’ School, Desborough College and the specialist performing arts school, Redroofs. It also has fantastic shopping, eating and drinking facilities as well as sport and leisure centres which provides residents with plenty to do outside of the office.
